All-electric at VW: ID.3

The VW ID.3 is the Wolfsburg-based company's first fully electric vehicle and follows in the footsteps of the Golf and Beetle. The electric car is based on the e-modular modular principle (MEB) and is the first member of Volkswagen's so-called ID series, which was introduced in 2019 to symbolise the car manufacturer's switch from the combustion engine to electric drive. The ID.3 thus marks Volkswagen's first step into the production of fully electric vehicles.

The ID.3 is mainly produced in Zwickau, Saxony, and now also in Dresden. Large-scale series sales began at the start of 2020, with the first deliveries taking place in September of the same year and meeting with a very positive response. The ID.3 is available in four different variants: Pure Performance, Pro, Pro Performance and Pro S. However, the battery capacities only differ in three model variants (Pro and Pro Performance have the same battery size).

The ID.3 range

The three battery types each have a net capacity of 45 kWh, 58 kWh and 77 kWh. This gives them an estimated practical range of 275 km, up to 426 km and up to 548 km according to the WLTP test cycle. The battery is charged via a three-phase connection with up to 11 kW, except for the smallest battery, which can only be charged up to 7.2 kW.

Driving experience and comfort of the ID.3

The VW ID.3 offers a balanced and comfortable driving experience, which is supported by the quiet ride, precise steering and the correct ID.3 rims. The suspension is well tuned so that the ID.3 remains comfortable even on longer journeys and masters bumps with ease. The right wheel rims are crucial to optimise the ride feel and comfort of the chassis. The well-insulated cabin ensures a relaxed atmosphere, while the generous legroom and ergonomic seats increase comfort for all occupants. In addition, the intuitive infotainment system with modern assistance systems contributes to a pleasant driving experience. The VW ID.3 has rear-wheel drive and reaches a top speed of 160 km/h.
