The VW Polo V 6R/6C is the fifth generation or eighth and ninth series of the small car from Volkswagen, which has been built since 1975. As one of the best-selling small cars in Germany, the VW Polo is one of the most popular cars from the Wolfsburg-based car manufacturer Volkswagen and is one of the classics on the roads. Its solid to sometimes sporty driving characteristics, easy handling, economy and efficiency make the VW Polo the perfect small car for town and country. The Polo V is the last generation in which you can choose between three and five doors. Its successor, the Polo VI is only available as a five-door model.

Over time, various versions of the Polo V were offered, which differed from the standard model in terms of basic equipment, modified bodywork or special engines. In addition to editions that are not widely available, such as a special model for the 2010 Football World Cup, the Polo as a rally car or as a delivery van, three variants in particular can be found on the roads:

Polo GTI

The GTI version of the Polo V has been available since 2010. The new engine with 180 hp as standard and a sports chassis ensure that the Polo GTI, with more power and a lower chassis, is particularly suitable for sporty drivers. In addition, the front and rear aprons and the roof edge spoiler have been given a new exterior design, and instead of the 14-inch steel wheels of the standard version, the GTI has 17-inch alloy wheels for maximum driving pleasure.

CrossPolo

The CrossPolo was introduced together with the GTI in 2010 and, in contrast to the GTI, is designed for driving off the beaten track. In addition to similar modifications such as new skirts and 17-inch alloy wheels, the CrossPolo was equipped with a detachable trailer coupling, roof rails and body covers for the wings, sills and doors. With these modifications and 15 mm more ground clearance, the CrossPolo can also traverse rough terrain; for more demanding off-road tours, other models are better suited due to the lack of all-wheel drive.

Polo BlueMotion

The Polo V BlueMotion is even more economical on the road than the standard version. The aerodynamics have been improved by modifications to the exterior bodywork and a newly developed engine means that this Polo consumes just 3.3 litres of diesel per 100 km (the normal Polo is 5.5 litres/100 km) with CO₂-Emissions of 87 grams per kilometre (128g/100km). The BlueMotion also ensures lower fuel consumption with a start-stop system, brake energy recovery and gear recommendation.

VW Polo V 6R

The VW Polo V 6R, introduced in 2009, is the series version of the model series and is characterised by its modern design and improved driving characteristics compared to its predecessor. The Polo V 6R was the first model to be equipped with a 7-speedDual-clutch gearbox and radioNavigation systems with Touchscreen-Operation was available.

VW Polo V 6C

the VW Polo 6C, a facelift of the 6R, was launched on the market in 2014. It is characterised by technical improvements such as new engines that meet the Euro 6 emissions standard and modern assistance systems that increase driving comfort and safety. The 6C also offers a wide range of tyre and wheel sizes from 14 to 17 inches. The Polo 6C is known for its enhanced infotainment options and improved interior, which offers an even more comfortable driving experience.
