The BMW M4 F82/F83 - sports car with everyday talent
BMW ushered in a new era in 2014 with the separation of the 3 Series Saloon (M3) and Coupe/Convertible (M4). The BMW M4 F82 (Coupe) and F83 (Convertible) bring motorsport feeling to the road - with breathtaking looks, impressive performance and a touch of everyday usability. The M4 is a real eye-catcher: a beefy front end with large air intakes, flared wheel arches, a low-slung side line and a muscular rear end.
At first glance, the BMW M4 F82 (Coupe) and the BMW F83 (Convertible) look almost identical. Both share the platforms, the drive and the aggressive M design. But a closer look reveals some clear differences. The F82 is a classic two-door coupé with a fixed roof made of carbon fibre, which not only reduces weight but also increases rigidity. The F83, on the other hand, is a convertible with an electric metal folding roof. Although this provides a real open-air feeling, it adds around 350 kilograms of weight and thus changes the vehicle balance.
