The Mercedes GLA (internal model designation H247) is a compact SUV from the car manufacturer Mercedes Benz. The H247 model series is the second generation of the GLA and has replaced the X156 model series since 2020. The Mercedes GLA H247 was unveiled in December 2019. Like its predecessor model, the GLA X156, the GLA H247 is based on the A-Class W177. In terms of design, however, the aim was to clearly establish the Mercedes GLA 2020 as an independent SUV and put the predecessor look of a higher A-Class to bed.
The rethought design of the Mercedes GLA
The GLA H247 is a lifestyle SUV with which Mercedes is tapping into a new and younger target group. The design is no longer as angular as that of its predecessor model and compact brother, the GLB. The Mercedes GLA looks beefier and shapelier - all in one flow. This brings the GLA H247 closer to the design of the GLE and GLS.
Features and equipment of the Mercedes GLA
The new design offers more than just visual benefits. Thanks to the restyled design language and the longer wheelbase, the Mercedes GLA H247 offers 14 cm more ground clearance, has grown 10 cm in height and has significantly more space in the interior. Three diesel engines with an output of 116 to 190 hp, six petrol engines with 136 to 421 hp and a plug-in hybrid with a system output of 218 hp are available to power the Mercedes GLA H247. The Mercedes GLA H247 is available in the Style, Progressive and AMG Line equipment lines.
