The BMW X3 is a mid-size SUV from the car manufacturer BMW, which has been in production since 2003. The first generation, the BMX X3 E83, was available from 2003 to 2010 and was replaced by the second generation, the BMW X3 F25, in 2010. The third generation BMW X3 G01 has been in production since 2017 and was given a facelift in 2021.
The BMW X3M - bigger, wider, fresher
From 2019, the BMW X3 will also be available as an M variant - the BMW X3M - for the first time. Visually, only slight adjustments have been made in order to appear a little fresher in the face of constant competition from Audi, Mercedes, VW and Land Rover. The proportions have hardly changed with the facelift, but it is now based on the platform of the large saloons and thus gains seven centimetres in length and around two centimetres in width and height. Connoisseurs will also notice that the kidney grille is now even more prominent at the front of the BMW X3 and that the overall appearance is generally a little beefier, bringing the BMW X3M even closer to its big brother, the BMW X5. However, the biggest changes compared to the previous generation are to be found in the interior of the BMW X3M.
The BMW X3 G01 - sporty, comfortable, classy
With the current BMW X3 G01 series, BMW is finally living up to its own premium standards. The materials and build quality of the previous model series were still very robust and not exactly harmonious for a vehicle in this price segment. The BMW X3 G01 is now exactly as it should be - visually present, technically mature and yet sportily ambitious, just as you would expect from a BMW. With the BMW X3 G01, BMW promises a high level of driving comfort combined with a very sporty and agile driving style that is unrivalled in its class. The rear-wheel drive transmission, the new electromechanical steering and the excellent shifting 8-speed automatic transmission are among the main reasons for this. BMW offers the X3 G01 as a petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid.
