The A5 is a coupe and a convertible in Audi's Mid-size cars. The first generation, designated 8T for the coupe and 8F for the cabriolet, was presented at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. The A5 is produced at the Audi plant in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, the cabriolet in Neckarsulm, Baden-Württemberg. After the Audi Coupe B3 of 1996, the Audi A5 has been the first coupe in Audi's mid-size class in a long time. Based on the Audi A4, the Audi A5 was been, and still is, very successful and enjoys a high standing among its drivers. The second generation of the Audi A5 was introduced in mid-2016. It bears the internal type designation F5 and is also produced at the Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm sites. In addition to the 3-door variant, there is also a 5-door model, which was designated as a "liftback". From the 2nd generation of the A5 onwards, which is internally designated as the 5F, the 5-door variant is known as the Sportback.
