The Mercedes GLA (internal type designation H247) is a compact SUV of the automobile manufacturer Mercedes Benz. The H247 series is the second generation of the GLA and replaces the X156 series since 2020. Unveiled in December 2019, the Mercedes GLA H247, like its predecessor GLA X156, is also based on the A-Class W177. In terms of design, however, the intention was to clearly establish the 2020 Mercedes GLA as an SUV in its own right and put the predecessor look of a higher-slung A-Class to rest.
The rethought design of the Mercedes GLA
The GLA H247 is a lifestyle SUV with which Mercedes is tapping into a new or younger target group. The design is no longer as angular as that of the predecessor model and compact brother GLB. The Mercedes GLA looks more brawny and shapely - all in one flow. As a result, the GLA H247 moves closer to the design of the GLE and GLS.
Features and equipment of the Mercedes GLA
The new design offers more than just visual benefits. Thanks to the redesigned design language and longer wheelbase, the Mercedes GLA H247 offers 14 cm more ground clearance, has grown 10 cm in height and has significantly more interior space. For propulsion in the Mercedes GLA H247, three diesel engines with an output of 116 to 190 hp, six gasoline engines with 136 to 421 hp and a plug-in hybrid with a system output of 218 hp are available. The Mercedes GLA H247 is offered in the Style, Progressive and AMG Line equipment lines.
