VW ID Series
With the models VW ID.3 and VW ID.4 Volkswagen opens its fully electric vehicle series with intelligent design. The Volkswagen ID cars are based on the modular e-drive system MEB. The drive battery with the integrated rechargeable batteries is installed flat in the vehicle floor to create more space for the passengers.
At the time of the market launch of the 2020 ID.3, the competition had already taken up a lot of space in the all-electric compact class segment and VW first had to prove itself again as the top dog in the electric car segment. The ID.4, the first pure VW electric SUV, followed the vehicle designed more for the big city.

VW ID.3
The ID.3 is the first fully electric vehicle from the Wolfsburg-based group and follows in the footsteps of the Golf and Beetle. The VW electric car is based on the E-modular modular principle and is the first member of Volkswagen's so-called ID series, which was introduced in 2019 to symbolise the automaker's shift from combustion to propulsion. The ID.3 was VW's first step into the production of fully electric vehicles.
The ID.3 is mainly produced in Zwickau, Saxony, but now also in Dresden. Large-scale series sales began in early 2020, with the first deliveries in September of the same year, and met with a very positive response. The ID.3 has four different variants: Pure Performance, Pro, Pro Performance, Pro S. However, the battery capacities only differ in three model variants (Pro and Pro Performance have the same battery size).
VW ID 3 – electric car range
The three battery types have a net capacity output of 45kWh, 58kWh and 77kWh respectively and an estimated practical range of 230-330km, 300-420km and 390-550km respectively. The battery will be charged with a three-phase connection of up to 11kW, except for the small battery (here only 7.2 kW). The ID.3 is a rear-wheel drive vehicle and the top speed is 160km/h. The vehicle was found to be very quiet and has a very modern interior, for example the dashboard consists of a display. The electric compact car can also be used with voice control.
Original VW ID.3 rims and complete wheels
As an option as well as standard for the selected equipment variants, the VW ID.3 is available with original VW complete wheels on original VW alloy rims in different colour and design variants. The original VW alloy wheels for the VW ID.3 are available in sizes from 18 to 20 inches.
Volkswagen ID.4 / ID.5
The VW ID.4 is the second vehicle in Volkswagen's new, all-electric ID series. It is the follow-up model to the ID.3 and the group's first electric SUV. The ID 4 is also based on the Modular E-Drive Toolkit (MEB) and looks very similar to the VW Tiguan. The ID.4 came onto the market at the start of 2021. In Germany, the first deliveries began in March of the same year.
Just like the ID.3, the ID.4 is built in Zwickau and in two Chinese plants. From 2022, the vehicle will also be built in Emden and Chattanooga (United States of America). As with the ID.3, there are several build categories of the new design, but the ID.4 additionally offers the GTX design. The ID.4 comes in the following equipment lines: ID.4 Pure, ID.4 Pure Performance, ID.4 Pro and ID.4 Pro Performance. The ID.4 GTX is the only version with all-wheel drive equipment and an additional front-wheel drive (70 kW). With the VW ID.5, Volkswagen will launch the ID.4 as a coupé in spring 2022.
VW ID 4 range
The ID.4 has two types of battery: a 52 kWh for Pure and Pure Performance and one with 77 kWh for the Pro, Pro Performance and GTX lines. The first battery can last for about 346 kilometres, the second battery comes close to 519 kilometres. The smaller battery charges with 7.2 kW, the larger with the familiar 11 kW. The top speed of the ID.4 and ID.5 is limited to 160 km/h. The top version, the VW ID.4 GTX, on the other hand, is limited to 180 km/h.

As an option or as standard for the selected equipment variant, the VW ID.4 / ID.5 is available with original VW complete wheels on original VW alloy rims in different colours and designs. The original VW alloy wheels for the VW ID.4 / ID.5 are available in the sizes 18 to 21 inches.
Differences between the VW ID 3 and VW ID 4
The ID 4 electric car is more spacious than its little brother, the ID 3. The electric SUV has a minimally higher quality interior, which is very similar in design to the ID.3 (e.g. dashboard screen). The ID 4 has a larger boot and is longer and heavier than the ID 3. On the other hand, the ID 3 has more range with the same battery size and behaves very similarly in terms of driving style.
